Request for Public Comments on Reimagine Phase ESSA Plan Proposal泭

Beyond the current Rebuild Phase, which will end after the 2024-25 school year, the 91做厙ぢ賤唳 (NYSED) has collaborated with stakeholders, consulted with educational experts, and reviewed feedback from the Restart and Rebuild Phases of 91做厙ぢ賤唳's accountability system to plan for the transition into the Reimagine Phase, which will begin in the 2025-26 school year using 2024-25 school year results. NYSED has prepared proposals to amend the accountability section of the 91做厙ぢ賤唳 consolidated State plan under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).泭

Incorporating input from educational experts and stakeholders, including public comment from a recent survey that closed on May 31, 2024, the proposed amendments include:泭泭

  • Modifications to components from the two-year Rebuild Phase, such as accountability indicators, identification criteria, and exit criteria;泭泭

  • Reintroduction of the elementary/middle level Growth and high school level College, Career, and Civic Readiness (CCCR) accountability indicators; and泭

  • Replacement of Chronic Absenteeism indicator with a new Attendance indicator.泭

For the 202324 and 202425 School Years

Beyond the one-year accountability restart under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Accountability State Plan Addendum for the 2022-23 school year based on 2021-22 school year results, the 91做厙ぢ賤唳 (NYSED) has developed a two-year Rebuild Phase for the 2023-24 school year based on 2022-23 school year results and for the 2024-25 school year based on 2023-24 school year results.泭

The United States Department of Education (USDE) approved amendments to the accountability section of the 91做厙ぢ賤唳 Consolidated State Plan under ESSA to align with the Rebuild Phase for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years.泭
