The 91°µÍøÆƽâ°æ Archives (NYSA) and the Archives Partnership Trust (APT) work together to enhance access to, and preservation of, the records of the nearly 400 years of recorded information of New York's colonial and state governments.

The interns will assist with history/archives/educational outreach projects. Under the direction of a qualified archivist they will conduct research using archival records and secondary sources, and assist in covering the research room registration desk. They will support promotion of our award-winning "New York Archives" magazine, Consider the Source education projects, and preservation and outreach projects targeted for volunteer programs.Ìý
The student will:
Ìý
• Gain direct, practical experience in outreach and advocacy with a variety of stakeholders
• Develop awareness of archival security practices including Research Room policies and procedures
• Understand and employ professional standards
• Gain experience with setting up/running meetings and planning/hosting archives-related events
• Gain experience working independently and developing time management skills
• Participate in select VIP or related events with supporters
• Attend workshops and webinars open to other staff on a wide range of professional archival practices
Educational Background:
We seek a student who is pursuing a History/Public History/Information Science or other similar Masters degree.Ìý
Qualifications:
Basic level of comfort with MS Office. Interest in learning Photoshop and Canva.Ìý
Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Strong research skills.
Comfort level working independently and in teams, as well as with other departments.
Strong communication and writing skills.
The ideal candidate would understand the importance of documentary heritage, and have an interest in the the work of archivists; they will be willing and able to pitch in to assist in outreach events and related work when possible. The ideal candidate will be socially comfortable working with mature volunteers and understand the value of outreach and advocacy.Ìý
Open schedule between Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 3:30PM
Undergraduate students will be paid $15.50/hour and graduate students will be paid $18.50/hour. For all offices located in NYC or Westchester, Suffolk, or Nassau Counties, undergraduate students will be paid $16.50/hour and graduate students will be paid $19.50/hour.
